Hyderabad: Telangana Prisons and Correctional Services Director- General inaugurated three important initiatives aimed at strengthening transparency, efficiency, and citizen-friendly administration at Jail Bhavan.

The initiatives included the biometric attendance system, the Swagatham visitors portal, and the visitors’ lounge. These initiatives are intended to enhance administrative discipline, improve transparency, and provide greater convenience to citizens visiting Jail Bhavan.

Speaking on the occasion, Soumya Mishra stated that the introduction of the biometric attendance system signifies the department’s commitment towards accountability, punctuality, and improved efficiency. She emphasized that the adoption of modern technology is essential for effective governance and quality public service delivery.

The visitors’ portal, inaugurated on the occasion, is a digital platform designed to provide a structured, transparent, and convenient appointment system for visitors seeking to meet officers at Jail Bhavan. The portal ensures organized interaction while upholding dignity, clarity, and respect for all visitors.

The visitors’ lounge was also inaugurated to provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for visitors. The facility reflects the department’s emphasis on professionalism, courtesy, and citizen convenience.

She appreciated the efforts of officers and staff involved in conceptualizing and implementing these initiatives and expressed confidence that the new systems and facilities would be utilized effectively, ethically, and responsibly.

The inauguration of these initiatives marks another milestone in the Directorate of Prisons’ ongoing efforts to modernize administration and strengthen citizen-centric service delivery.
