Telangana: Police Identify Colleges Forging Fire NOCs

HYDERABAD: Police said they had identified 16 junior private colleges that allegedly forged the signatures of HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath and then fire services DG Y. Nagi Reddy to fraudulently obtain fire no‑objection certificates. Another 112 colleges were under the scanner, police said.
To secure recognition from the Telangana Board of Intermediate (TSBIE), college managements must have a fire NOC attested by the HYDRAA chief, an official said.
HYDRAA additional director Papaiah Varla initially lodged a complaint against eight junior colleges, some of whom had allegedly forged Ranganath’s signature and others the signature of Nagi Reddy, sources said.
Colleges that forged Ranganath’s signature include Resonance Junior College, S.R. Nagar; Priyanka Junior College for Girls, Mehdipatnam; Mothers Girls Junior College, Vidyanagar; Sri Chandra Junior College, Chandrayangutta; New Era Junior College, Chikkadpally; Shaheen Junior College, Shivrampally; Vasista Junior College, Tellapur; and RC Puram, Sangareddy district.
Those that forged Nagi Reddy’s signature include Kites Junior College, Old Bowenpally; Vigyan Bharati Junior College; Shree Prabhya Junior College, Alwal; CMS Commerce Junior College, ECIL; Point Junior College; Excellencia Junior College, Pet Basheerabad; Sri Narayana College of Commerce, Uppal; and Excellencia Junior College, Dammaiguda.

HYDRA and police officers probing the forgery collected lists of private junior colleges from TGVIE and DIEOs in Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal and Malkajgiri, and sent over 80 NOC permissions for verification.
Papaiah told police that he had received a complaint from Gorlapally Suresh on February 26 against Haindavi Junior College, Barkatpura. Upon verification, the NOC submitted by the college was found to be fake.
Police booked cases for forgery of a government officer’s signature, fraudulent use of forged documents, cheating and dishonestly inducing, and common intention under the BNS.
“Given the gravity of the offence, which involves counterfeiting government records and compromising public safety, we registered criminal cases under the relevant provisions of law against the managements of the junior colleges,” Lake police inspector R. Venkateshwarlu said.
