Telangana Gram Panchayat Election Process Begins Today

First phase to cover 4,236 sarpanch seats and 37,440 ward positions across 189 mandals.

Hyderabad: The battle for Telangana’s village governance is set to begin on Thursday as the schedule for the first phase of Panchayat elections rolls out across the state. A total of 4,236 sarpanch seats and 37,440 ward positions across 189 mandals will go to polls in this phase.

Collectors in the respective districts are scheduled to issue election notifications on Thursday, marking the beginning of the nomination process. Nominations will be accepted until November 29, followed by scrutiny on November 30. Petition submissions regarding scrutiny decisions will be accepted on December 1 and resolved the next day.
Candidates will have until December 3 to withdraw their nominations, after which the final list of candidates will be announced. Polling is scheduled for December 11 and counting of votes will take place on the same day. Elections for deputy sarpanch positions will also be conducted as part of the process.
As per the directives of the State Election Commission (SEC), officials have completed all arrangements for conducting the elections smoothly. On Wednesday, State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini held a video conference with district collectors, commissioners, SPs and other senior officials to review preparedness.
She issued guidelines related to maintaining law and order, deployment of polling staff, training of personnel and overall election protocol to ensure peaceful and efficient polling across the state.
