HYDERABAD: Students at Osmania University's Law College celebrated the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday, with students and union members describing it as a victory for student voices.
A small group of students gathered on the college campus, raised slogans and expressed happiness over Pradhan’s resignation. They said the moment reflected the strength of democratic protests and hoped it would bring greater attention to issues affecting students.
Speaking with Deccan Chronicle, Mohan, a second-year student said, "We have been raising our concerns for a long time. Today's development has given us hope that the voices of students cannot be ignored."
Ravi Teja, a student of Law College, said “Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned, but that does not mean the government can wash their mistakes away. The government has to provide ₹1 crore compensation to the families of students who died by suicide due to the exam cancellation.”
"This is just the beginning. Many assumed the revolution was about NEET, but it was way more than that. It was not just about NEET or Dharmendra Pradhan that got students and protestors on the street, but it was the collective outrage against the government’s failures. We will continue raising our voices against injustice," Sai Ram, student, said.
