Telangana NEET-PG: Glitches at One Centre, Drunk Candidate Sent Back Home

Hyderabad: The NEET-PG 2026 was conducted across 56 centres in 14 districts of Telangana, though glitches were reported at least at one centre, and a candidate turned up drunk elsewhere. The drunk candidate was sent home.

Dr M. Nagesh, a candidate, reported technical issues at his centre at Ghatkesar, including a system getting stuck, the examination timer continuing to run and a non-functional mouse. He admitted to getting distracted “a bit” but he used the gap to mentally revise the subject. “When the screen returned, it was not moving to either the previous or the subsequent questions,” he told Deccan Chronicle.

“I was shifted to another cabin. Some candidates also faced login and Aadhaar verification issues. Around 10 candidates were given additional time, and though the examination was scheduled from 9 am to 12.30 pm, we were allowed to continue until around 12.50 pm,” he said. Dr Nagesh, who had opted for long-term coaching, said he was interested in General Medicine.

Several aspirants described the question paper as moderate to difficult, with more clinical-based questions compared to last year. Dr G Harika, an aspirant, told Deccan Chronicle that the paper was moderate to difficult. She said she was interested in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Candidates said unlike last year, the paper did not have many one-word-answer questions and instead included lengthy clinical scenarios.

Meanwhile, an aspirant was reportedly found under the influence of alcohol at an examination centre in Ibrahimpatnam, Rangareddy district. Examination staff noticed the candidate’s unusual behaviour after he had cleared the initial security checks and entered the hall. Police were alerted and the candidate was removed from the premises. Police said an investigation was underway, including the use of breathalysers to establish alcohol consumption and determine how the candidate managed to pass the initial security checks.

The overall attendance was reported at 97.26 per cent, officials said. Of the 17,626 candidates who registered for the examination, 17,143 appeared, while 483 were absent. Health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha monitored the examination from the regional command and control centre in Gachibowli.
