WARANGAL: Mahbubabad MP Porika Balram Naik on Thursday criticised the Union government in the Lok Sabha, alleging neglect of Telangana’s interests and mismanagement of the Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited.

Raising the issue, he said the plant, operational since 2021, has failed to meet its annual urea production target of 12.7 lakh metric tonnes. He cited reports indicating nearly 60 shutdowns over the past five years, averaging about 12 interruptions annually, affecting fertiliser supply.

The MP said the repeated disruptions had resulted in wastage of public resources and impacted farmers dependent on timely availability of fertilisers. He also questioned the location of the company’s corporate office in Noida despite the unit being based in Ramagundam, stating that the distance affected supervision and delayed decision-making.

Balram Naik called for a high-level inquiry into the reported technical failures and urged the Centre to shift the corporate office to Ramagundam to improve coordination.

He sought a time-bound plan to achieve full production capacity, stating that the unit is important for fertiliser supply and regional development.
