Telangana Lifts Trophy at Kollur Science Fair

Teacher category honours went to entries from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Telangana emerged as the top performer in the the Southern India Science Fair (SISF) 2026 which concluded here on Friday, securing the highest number of prizes.

Hyderabad:Telangana emerged as the top performer in the the Southern India Science Fair (SISF) 2026 which concluded here on Friday, securing the highest number of prizes. A total of 181 awards were presented to student and teacher innovators from six southern states and Union Territories.

The five‑day fair, organised by the state department of school education, in collaboration with the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, drew large public participation and showcased a wide thematic spread of exhibits.

National Council of Science Museums cash awards were given to overall winners. Puducherry secured the top group prize for its eco-smart clay cool duo system, while a Telangana team from Rajanna Sircilla district won the second group prize for its smart gloves model. Karnataka students bagged the individual first prize for an optical telescope, and Kerala won the individual second prize for a medibot engineering exhibit. Teacher category honours went to entries from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Each participating state also awarded prizes to its best exhibits. Telangana students and teachers featured prominently in these state‑wise awards across mathematics, environmental science, physics and engineering. The directorate of school Eeducation and SCERT, Telangana, ultimately received the trophy for the State with the maximum number of prizes at SISF.

Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Telangana each presenting 35 exhibits across student groups, student individual and teacher categories. Of 210 proposed exhibits, 199 were displayed, along with 30 NGO stalls in the open exhibition area.

Over five days, 62,833 students visited the exhibition, interacting with models on agriculture, solar energy, waste management, water conservation, medical services and communication systems.
