HYDERABAD: BRS president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday met Union minister for heavy industries H.D. Kumaraswamy in New Delhi, seeking immediate revival of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) plant in Adilabad.

Following the meeting, Rama Rao said the Union minister indicated that the Centre was positively inclined towards reviving the unit, but stressed that support and participation from the Telangana government were required. He asked the state government to clarify the proposals it had submitted to the Centre and its investment commitment for the project.

Addressing the media, Rama Rao said his political opposition was directed at the policies and governance of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He alleged that the state government was diverting public attention from its performance.

Taking a swipe at Revanth Reddy, he remarked that the Chief Minister appeared to have been earned “four or five PhDs in diverting public attention”, and questioned the focus on criticising the BRS despite being in office for over two years. “If BRS is a finished party, as the Chief Minister repeatedly claims, why does he attack us every single day?” he said.

Rama Rao also questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over what he described as the Chief Minister’s “irresponsible statements,” and asked why the party’s national leadership had not responded. He said no Chief Minister should ask for blood from farmers or make references to Hitler.
