Hyderabad: The Telangana IAS and IPS officers associations on Saturday strongly condemned a report broadcast by the private channel NTV, alleging that it carried false, defamatory and unverified allegations against women IAS officers and a state minister. The associations demanded that NTV tender an unconditional public apology and immediately withdraw the content from all platforms. They warned that legal action would follow if accountability was not ensured.

In a media statement, TG IAS Officers’ Association secretary Jayesh Ranjan said the broadcast referred to alleged family discomfort, phone calls and WhatsApp chats as so-called evidence, but these claims were “entirely fabricated and devoid of factual verification.” He said such reporting “grossly misrepresented established administrative procedures, undermined the credibility of the civil services and amounted to character assassination of officers discharging their duties with integrity.”
The association stated that the allegations were “malicious, violated the privacy and dignity of officers and promoted a regressive and misogynistic narrative targeting women in public service.” It said the “reckless airing of unsubstantiated content without authentication or adherence to journalistic ethics amounted to harassment and caused serious harm to professional reputation.” The association said it was exploring legal remedies to ensure accountability of those responsible for creating and disseminating the content.
The Telangana IPS Officers’ Association warned that any media house or individual indulging in the spread of baseless or fabricated content against serving officers would be proceeded against as per law. It said it would pursue appropriate civil and criminal remedies to ensure deterrence and made it clear that the dignity of constitutional offices, particularly the honour and safety of women officers, was non-negotiable. Any attempt to malign or demoralise officers through false narratives would invite a firm and united institutional response, the association added.
Reacting to the controversy, R&B minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy termed the episode a deliberate and baseless media campaign against women IAS officers and described it as irresponsible, damaging and deeply disturbing. Clarifying the administrative process, he said that individual ministers had no role in the transfer or posting of collectors or IAS officers and that such decisions were taken solely by the Chief Minister as per established norms. Any suggestion of political or ministerial interference was completely false, he said.
The minister urged media organisations to maintain professional ethics and avoid publishing unverified reports that cause mental harassment to women officers and erode public trust in governance. He expressed concern over the spread of false narratives through social media and said it was unacceptable to drag civil servants, including women officers working in the Chief Minister’s Office, into political campaigns. He also rejected reports linking him to alleged interference in transfer of collectors in Nalgonda, calling them entirely fabricated.
Venkat Reddy said he had discussed the matter with DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy and that senior police and intelligence officials had been directed to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the origin and circulation of the report. He warned that strict legal action would be taken once the report was submitted and urged anyone with concrete evidence to approach authorities instead of indulging in propaganda.
