Justice Naveen To Supervise HCA

Hyderabad:The Telangana High Court has appointed Justice P. Naveen Rao (retd) to supervise the functioning of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) till further orders. The supervision by Justice Naveen Rao will on the lines of the earlier single member committee of Justice L. Nageswara Rao (retd), who was appointed by the Supreme Court in 2023.

Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka of the Telangana High Court on Friday issued the interim orders while dealing with a petition filed by the Safilguda Cricket Club, represented by its president Chilumula Sanjeev Reddy.
The petitioner sought a CBI probe into the financial irregularities and administration mismanagement at the HCA. These had led to criticism and the appointment of a supervising committee of administrators by the courts or the BCCI.
Sanjeev Reddy also brought to the attention of the court that judicial oversight by the earlier committees and administrators had checked financial irregularities in the HCA and it appeared that the association had slipped back into a vicious cycle of administrative and financial mismanagement the moment judicial oversight ended.
He also cited the earlier administrators report dated May 31, which indicated that larger systemic issues are at stake and need thorough investigation by a professional investigating body.
Justice Bheemapaka, after hearing the contentions adjourned the matter to Monday and meanwhile issued interim orders appoint Justice Naveen Rao.
