Telangana HC Refuses to Stay Removal of Unauthorised Cables

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday directed the TGSPDCL to continue with disconnection of cable and internet wires which were placed on electric poles without permission. Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka was not inclined either to exempt service providers or give them time.

The judge was dealing with the petition filed by Bharti Airtel Ltd, challenging the government orders to remove the wires from the electrical poles, in view of the electrocution of six persons at Ramanthapur on Sri Krishna Janmashtami day.

The judge directed the company to deploy staff to identify their cables when TGSPDCL personnel were removing unauthorised cables. The company had obtained permission from the power utilities to use around 1.76 lakh poles out 20 lakh poles for placing its cables.

HC asks if sports quota in medical courses still in place

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court asked the state government whether the sports quota reservations were provided or not in the admission to medical courses. A bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin was dealing with a petition filed by Miryala Arjun of Nalgonda district.

Counsel for the petitioner submitted that GO 114 was issued in 2017 providing half-per cent quota for games and sports personnel for admission to medical courses.

The court directed government counsel to obtain the state’s contention on implementing the GO. The bench directed him to inform the court by September 4 whether the government had withdrawn the GO or had it lapsed.

Transgenders move HC for quota

Hyderabad: A contempt case was filed before the Telangana High Court complaining of non-compliance of its in implementing one per cent quota for transgenders in services and admission into educational institutes and professional courses.

The petitioner complained that despite the 2014 NALSA orders and Telangana High Court orders in 2024, no action has been initiated by the government. On Monday, the division bench headed by Chief Justice A.K. Singh directed the registry to number the contempt petition and list the matter for hearing.
