Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Tuesday said Telangana government was empowering Self-Help- Groups (SHG) by providing them financial aid of Rs. 21,000 crore apart from creating a market for their products and services. The government has encouraged women to get into solar power generation with a buy back guarantee.

Participating as chief guest at Stree Summit 2.0 organized by Hyderabad City Police, in collaboration with the Women’s Forum of the Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC), he said that the State government has a target of making more than one crore women crorepatis. Telangana was fully committed to empowerment of women, he said.

He said that the Stree Summit was not a forum for conversation, but a commitment to the idea of respect and equality and empowerment for all.

Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, HCSC Chairman C. V. Anand, in his address, mentioned that STREE stands for She Triumphs Through Respect Equality and Empowerment. He highlighted that the girl child ratio 942:1000 was alarming and will adversely impact the nation's growth.

The discretion against women should end at home as well as work places. He mentioned that the free bus ride scheme for women has increased women's participation in various events across the State. He informed that more women were joining the police force and there were seven women police stations in seven zones and out of 19 DCP’s, eight were women.

Women officers were part of patrol, blue colt, traffic police and three Station House Officers (SHOs) were women officers. He concluded his speech with a call to empower women to increase the State’s and nation’s GDP.
