Adilabad: The district administrations of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, and Mancherial are on high alert after the India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for Adilabad and a red alert for the other three districts.
Collectors of the respective districts have appealed to the public, especially those living in low-lying areas, to remain cautious and avoid taking unnecessary risks in the next 24 hours due to the likelihood of heavy rains. People were advised not to work in agricultural fields, or take shelter under trees or near electric poles, to avoid lightning strikes.
Adilabad collector Rajarshi Shah said residents can call the toll-free number 1800 425 1939 for help or emergency relief. He said district officials are prepared, with NDRF teams already positioned in Nirmal district, to respond quickly in case of any emergency.
Officials in Nirmal have alerted people residing along the banks of the Kadam, Swarna, and Godavari rivers. In Mancherial, collector Kumar Deepak has issued instructions to local officials to be ready with relief arrangements and asked residents near the Godavari river to stay vigilant.
