Telangana DGP Reviews Progress of YIP School

Hyderabad: Director General of Police C. V. Anand has directed officials to expedite construction of the Young India Police School (YIPS) at Manchirevula and develop it into a model educational institution for the country. The school is to provide world‑class education to children of police personnel, martyrs and the public.

Anand, accompanied by Indian Police Spouses Welfare Association (IPSOWA) president Lalita Anand and committee members, assessed infrastructure development and key initiatives. The association has decided to support completion of the school, which is primarily for children of police personnel.

Prior to the meeting, Anand interacted with students, joined them in a football game and watched demonstrations of archery, fencing and other sports.

YIPS, which commenced operations last year with 125 students, now has 345 enrolled up to Class VI for the 2026–27 academic year. The meeting was attended by senior police officials, advisers, the principal and staff, a press release stated.

Stressing holistic education, Anand said the institution should nurture discipline, moral values, patriotism, service‑mindedness and responsible citizenship. Expressing concern over drug abuse among youngsters, he emphasised the need for values‑based education.

“The institution should produce responsible citizens with strong moral character and a deep sense of commitment to society and the nation,” he said.

The committee discussed progress of school buildings, academic plans, curriculum and infrastructure requirements. Pending proposals and bills were examined and approvals accorded. Anand advised senior police officers to visit the school regularly and mentor students in leadership, discipline and public service.
