Hyderabad: Unpredictable weather conditions swinging between blazing heat and sudden rain gripped most parts of the state. On one hand, 27 districts sizzled above 40°C on Wednesday, while a series of rain alerts was issued, hinting at incoming relief.

According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TDPS), Adilabad was the hottest on Wednesday, recording a scorching 43.1°C, followed closely by Kumuram Bheem at 42.8°C and Nirmal at 42.7°C.

Several other districts, like Nizamabad, Mancherial and Bhadradri Kothagudem, remained firmly in the 41–42°C zone, leaving residents sweltering under an unforgiving sun. Hyderabad, though slightly cooler, still touched a troubling 39.5°C in many circles.

Even as heat dominated in some regions, clouds gathered over others. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre issued rain alerts across multiple districts, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the next 48 hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) sounded an orange alert for districts including Khammam, Suryapet, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Mahabubabad. These areas may see wind speeds of 40–50 km/h, thunder, lightning, and moderate rain.

Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts have been placed under a yellow alert, meaning light to moderate rainfall, mostly in the evenings or night hours.

In Hyderabad, the mercury stayed stubbornly high, with most circles recording 39°C or more. Areas like Secunderabad, Gachibowli, Shaikpet, and LB Nagar hovered between 39.3°C and 39.5°C, showing no major signs of cooling despite rain forecasts. For the next 48 hours, Hyderabad is expected to experience light to moderate evening showers, possibly bringing some relief to denizens.

Hazy mornings and humid conditions will persist, with the maximum temperature likely at around 38°C and the minimum near 23°C.
