HYDERABAD: The Cabinet will discuss the Justice P.C. Ghose commission of inquiry report at its meeting on August 4. The single item on the agenda would be the report on the various aspects related to the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme barrages.
To assist the Cabinet to study the 650-page three-volume report, the government has set up a committee of three senior IAS officers – general administration department secretary Navin Mittal, principal secretary irrigation Rahul Bojja, and law secretary Rendla Thirupathi – to prepare a gist of the report’s contents.
The decision to form this committee was taken at a meeting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, and revenue and I&PR minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy at his residence on Friday. The meeting followed the irrigation minister handing over to the Chief Minister the two sets of the copies of the reports – still in their sealed packages as given to the government by the commission of inquiry.
The Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues, along with senior officials, discussed the way forward with the report. Among those present at the meeting were Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, special secretary irrigation Prashant Jeevan Patil, Chief Minister’s adviser Vem Narender Reddy, and senior CMO officials V. Seshadri, K. Manicka Raj, and deputy ENC of irrigation department Srinivasa Rao.
