Telangana: Attack On KTR’s Staff- HC Directs Police To Preserve The CCTV Footage

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed the Saifabad police to preserve CCTV footage from the entry and exit points of the police station and the camera facing the interrogation room, following allegations that masked men barged into the room and attempted to attack two aides of former minister and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao.
Justice T. Madhavi Devi passed the direction, while hearing a petition filed by Rama Rao’s PA Kumbala Mahender Reddy and PRO Mahesh Manikya, who alleged that they were attacked during questioning at Saifabad police station on September 14 in connection with the Assembly ruckus.
The petitioners alleged that unidentified masked men entered the interrogation room and tried to attack them with deadly weapons, while the SHO and ACP of Saifabad allegedly remained mute spectators. They sought a formal probe, describing the incident as an attack inside a police station.
Appearing for the petitioners, senior counsel T.V. Ramana Rao submitted that the duo had appeared before the investigating officer in response to a notice but were made to wait until 2 pm before being taken for crime scene reconstruction.
