Telangana: Amrabad Elevated Corridor To Have Two Lanes, Instead Of Four
The corridor is expected to start near Brahmanapally, around three km from Mannanur that forms the gateway to the reserve: Reports
HYDERABAD: The proposed 54-km elevated corridor that will replace the on the ground stretch of National Highway 765, passing through 55 km of the core area of the Amrabad tiger reserve, is expected to be scaled down from four lanes to two.
It is learnt that the revised proposal, while reducing the project cost – from an estimated ₹7,700 crore for the four-lane version — will, however, be designed keeping in view the carrying capacity of vehicular traffic from Telangana to the temple town of Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh. While weekdays see normal traffic of vehicles passing through the tiger reserve in their hundreds, on weekends and on festival days, the numbers rise dramatically to their thousands.
The corridor is expected to start near Brahmanapally, around three km from Mannanur that forms the gateway to the reserve, and land near Eegalapenta close to River Krishna and the Srisailam dam. It may be recalled that it was during the first week of this month that National Highways Authority of India officials, accompanied by technical experts from the Wildlife Institute of India, conducted a field inspection in preparation for taking the project proposal further.
