Telangana: 8 Farmers Fined ₹5,000 For Burning Stubble In Jagtial

ADILABAD: Eight farmers in Rajaram Thanda village of Kathalapur mandal in Jagtial district were fined ₹5,000 each for burning paddy residue in violation of government norms, agriculture department officials said on Saturday.
The action was taken under GO Ms 27 following incidents of stubble burning reported in the area. Officials said such practices had also led to fire incidents at various places in the state.
District agriculture officer Bhaskar said the farmers resorted to burning crop residue despite awareness drives conducted as per government instructions, and termed the act a violation of prescribed norms.
The farmers fined were Bhukya Nandya Naik, Lakawath Ramulu, Lakawath Bakshayya, Bhukya Santhosh, Kunsoth Rajesh, Degawath Raju, Lakawath Tirupati and Bhanoth Raju of Rajaram Thanda.
The fines were imposed by the gram panchayat secretary.
