Telangana: 3 Nabbed with 31 Grams MDMA
The accused were procuring the synthetic drug from Nigerian peddlers in Bengaluru, police said. They were handed over to the Malkajgiri excise station for investigation.
Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri excise district task force arrested three persons and seized 31 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs.1.5 lakh, during a raid in Narapalli on Sunday. The accused were identified as Daniel Raju, Abhiram and Abhishek Verma, are all natives of Rajahmundry. They were procuring the synthetic drug from Nigerian peddlers in Bengaluru, police said. They were handed over to the Malkajgiri excise station for investigation.
Worker fixing banner dies of electrocution
Hyderabad: Hyderabad witnessed two separate incidents of electrocution within a span of a few hours, claiming the lives of two men.
On Sunday, 33-year-old Bharat Naik, a resident of RN Colony in Falaknuma, died while attempting to fix a banner near a Ganesh mandapam. Bharat worked as an autorickshaw driver and is survived by his wife and three children.
Police said a banner tied to the pandal had become entangled in an overhead high-tension wire. Bharat tried to remove it using an iron rod, which accidentally touched the live wire, resulting in his electrocution.
Addressing the media, locals from the Falaknuma incident said they had been requesting power department officials to remove the wires for a long time now, but no action was taken. “Their negligence cost a life. Now his grieving family is the department’s responsibility. Give them a `50 lakh ex gratia,” a local said.
On Saturday evening, a 24-year-old construction worker, Mohd Yousuf, a UP native residing in Hafeezpet, came into contact with live electrical cables while at work at a construction site in Gachibowli. He collapsed on the spot and was taken to a nearby hospital by fellow workers. He succumbed during treatment later at night.
Man Arrested for Posing as GHMC Vigilance Official
Hyderabad: A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly posing as a GHMC vigilance official and committing theft by diverting attention, in Warasiguda on Sunday.
The accused, Ghouse Khan alias Aftab Khan, a mutton worker from LN Nagar, on August 26 wore a mask and helmet, entered a mutton shop, threatened the worker, and stole two butcher knives and `4,300 cash.
Based on CCTV footage and reliable information, police arrested him at Warasiguda crossroads and recovered the knives, a wireless set, and cash, among other things.
Kid collapses and dies at school
Hyderabad: A 14-year-old boy collapsed and died, allegedly due to a heart attack at the Telangana Minority Residential School in Yakutpura, on Saturday morning. The Saroornagar police have registered a case in this regard.
According to investigation officer V. Mariah, the incident occurred around 9.45 am when the boy went to his hostel room to keep his book after the study hour ended. In the room, other students found that he had suddenly collapsed.
On informing the hostel and school staff, they called the medical staff who tried administering the boy cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but did not help. “They shifted the boy to a private hospital in Champapet, where doctors said he had died on the way,” the IO said.
The boy had been studying at the school for the past five years. Police informed his parents and later shifted the boy’s body to the Osmania mortuary for postmortem examination. Police said PME reports confirmed it was a heart attack.
A case was registered at the Saroornagar police station under Section 194 of the BNSS for death under suspicious circumstances, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
9 cars in pile-up on expressway
Hyderabad: Nine cars crashed into each other in a line at the PVNR Expressway, on Saturday night. No casualties were reported. The incident came to light after a video of the same was uploaded on social media platforms.
According to Rajendranagar police, the incident occurred when one of the cars on the expressway, going towards Aramgarh, stopped suddenly. As a result, a car behind rammed into it.
Following this, the cars following them rammed into the vehicle ahead. All the nine cars were damaged and traffic movement slowed down, compounded with the rain.
The traffic police reached the spot and used a crane to remove all the vehicles and ensure traffic movement. Commuters were advised to take additional routes for the time being. No case has been registered yet.
