HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao has urged the state government to prioritise the education sector by immediately filling vacant teaching posts across universities, colleges and high schools. He demanded that pending fee reimbursements be cleared without delay, to ensure access to education is not hindered by financial constraints.

Criticising the government’s neglect of the sector, Ramchander Rao said the quality of education had deteriorated significantly due to inaction and lack of focus. He called for comprehensive measures to upgrade higher education standards, stressing that a strong educational foundation is key to the state’s development.

Speaking at Guru Purnima celebrations held at Mahbub College in Secunderabad, Ramchander Rao paid tribute to teachers, calling them the cornerstone of society who shape morally grounded and capable citizens. “Gurus guide students on the right path, instilling values and knowledge essential for nation-building,” he said.

He also praised the Narendra Modi-led Union government’s efforts to restore India’s stature as a Vishwa Guru (world teacher), adding that the tradition of honouring spiritual leaders, yoga gurus and academic teachers on this day was both noble and inspiring.

Ramchander Rao said he was proud to participate in the Guru Purnima celebrations at Mahbub College, Bolton School and Intermediate College, Mahbub Degree College and Swamy Vivekananda Institute of Technology and MBA College. The event was attended by over 300 teaching staff and thousands of students, and included a Bhajan Sandhya and special felicitations to teachers.

Mahbub College managing committee chairman P.L. Srinivas said their institutions regularly organise such programmes to strengthen the sacred Guru-Shishya bond, which he described as central to cultivating knowledge, discipline and mutual respect. He reiterated the institution’s commitment to creating an environment where educators are honoured and empowered to inspire future generations. “Investing in education and respecting teachers is vital to building a prosperous and enlightened society,” he added.
