TCA Opposes HCA’s Proposed Inter-District T20 League
TCA alleged that the tournament violates BCCI rules, judicial orders, and governance norms.
The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has strongly objected to the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s (HCA) plan to launch the “G. Venkata Swamy Memorial Inter-District T20 League.”
In a representation to the BCCI Secretary, BCCI Ombudsman, and the Single Member Committee of HCA, TCA alleged that the tournament violates BCCI rules, judicial orders, and governance norms.
Key Concerns Raised by TCA
- Conflict of Interest: The league is named after Shri G. Venkata Swamy, father of former HCA presidents G. Vivekanand and G. Vinod, both linked to disputes involving Vishaka Industries Ltd. and a ₹67 crore liability against HCA.
- Judicial & BCCI Orders: The league disregards the BCCI order of July 2021 and the Bombay High Court order of March 2025.
- Past Rejection: A similar proposal was rejected by BCCI in 2018.
- Financial & Legal Troubles: HCA’s accounts remain frozen, with ongoing investigations by CID, ACB, and ED.
- Unauthorised Conduct: Matches are being planned without BCCI or IPL Governing Council approval.
TCA’s Appeal
TCA has urged BCCI and judicial authorities to:
- Stop the proposed league immediately.
- Ensure HCA complies with pending court and BCCI directives.
- Restrain HCA from conducting inter-district cricket until governance issues are resolved.
The representation underscores concerns over accountability and integrity in cricket administration in Telangana, calling for urgent intervention to protect the sanctity of the sport.
