Warangal: District medical and health officer (DM&HO) Dr B. Ravi Rathod on Monday directed all private hospitals in Mahabubabad to prominently display boards listing the charges and services offered to visiting patients.

During a surprise inspection at a private hospital in Mahabubabad town, Dr Rathod instructed the hospital management to strictly adhere to the Clinical Establishments Act, 2010, and to collect fees as per prescribed norms. He emphasised the importance of installing fire safety equipment and obtaining valid permissions from the Bio-Medical and Pollution Control Boards. All such certifications must be clearly displayed at the premises for public view, he added.

Dr Rathod warned that hospitals found violating these rules would face stringent action, including the issuance of show cause notices, cancellation of licences, or imposition of fines. He further directed that only trained and certified radiologists or gynaecologists are authorised to conduct scans on pregnant women. Disclosing the gender of the foetus, either during or after the scan, is a punishable offence under the law.

All diagnostic centres must clearly display boards in scanning rooms and waiting areas stating: “Gender determination is not conducted here.” He also instructed all centres to submit Form-F to the District Medical and Health Department by the 5th of every month without fail. Additionally, each Form-F must be uploaded online on the same day it is generated.

Programme officer Dr Sarangam, deputy mass media officer Koppu Prasad and health extension officer Lokya accompanied Dr Rathod during the inspection.
