Student Dies After Horse Attack
Police said the incident came to light on Sunday after the victim’s father, Syed Imtiyazuddin, 55, of Kokakitatti, lodged a complaint.
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old student died after he was allegedly attacked by a horse while returning home from a funeral at Palki Gardens under the Hussainialam police station limits.
Police said the incident came to light on Sunday after the victim’s father, Syed Imtiyazuddin, 55, of Kokakitatti, lodged a complaint. He stated that his son, Syed Shamshuddin, was passing through Palki Grounds, where horses were being kept illegally, when one of them knocked him down.
On January 2 around 9 pm, a meat shop owner alerted the family after finding Shamshuddin writhing in pain. He was rushed to Asra Hospital, which allegedly refused admission, and later shifted to Osmania General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Hussainialam police station house officer A. Anjanelu said Shamshuddin sustained severe internal injuries to his head, jaw, chin and nose.
A resident of the area, Abdul Nasir, said, “On November 25, I had lodged a complaint along with some residents with the Hussaini Alam police against the owners for illegally tying horses and keeping them in the area. After the cops warned them they shifted the horses from Palaki Gardens but again in December last week they brought the horses back to the same.”
A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in Crime No. 1 of 2026, and investigation is on.
