Hyderabad: Members of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad Joint Action Committee (JNTUH JAC) on Wednesday urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to start permanent recruitment across all state universities in 2026, citing long-pending vacancies and fund shortages.

In a statement, JAC chairman Botla Bhikshapati said, students are facing hardships due to the shortage of regular faculty and staff.

“Universities are being run on temporary arrangements for years. It is affecting academic quality and students’ future,” he said.

The committee said that while the Congress government’s allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for Osmania University signaled renewed focus on higher education, similar attention was required for other state universities, facing acute shortage of fund and recruitment issues.

Bhikshapati said the sanctioned posts remain vacant due to a lack of funds and administrative delays. “Permanent appointments and adequate budgets must go together to stabilise the university system,” he said. The JNTUH JAC appealed to the CM to take immediate steps in the New Year to restore stability in public universities.
