Srihari Slams Centre for Operation Kagar
Turning to state politics, Srihari charged BRS leadership under former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao with stifling dissent — citing the removal of Dharna Chowk and the filing of “false cases” against protesters.
Warangal: Former Deputy chief minister and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari on Monday criticised the Centre’s counter-insurgency measures and the BRS, during a press conference at Congress Bhavan led by Warangal West MLA Naini Rajendar Reddy.
Srihari denounced “Operation Kagar” in Chhattisgarh as a “brutal and inhumane” campaign, accusing federal forces of “spilling innocent tribal blood under the guise of countering extremists.” He urged the Centre to suspend the operations immediately and initiate peace talks with Maoist groups, warning that ongoing encounters were needlessly costing civilian lives.
Turning to state politics, Srihari charged BRS leadership under former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao with stifling dissent — citing the removal of Dharna Chowk and the filing of “false cases” against protesters. He claimed that Operation Kagar was politically motivated to boost BRS’s electoral fortunes and pointed to corruption allegations against former officials, some of whom he said have fled or been jailed.
Defending the Congress government’s record, Srihari highlighted key achievements in its 16 months in office: farmer loan waivers, completion of the caste census, large-scale housing initiatives, and distribution of free fine rice to economically vulnerable families. He concluded by urging BRS leaders to abandon “false propaganda” and engage in fact-based debate.
