Sridhar Babu Slams KCR over Baseless Allegations on Telangana Rising

Hyderabad: IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu on Monday accused BRS chief K. Chandrasehkar Rao of levelling baseless allegations against the Congress government’s investment drive. He contrasted the current administration’s “hope-creating” culture with what he termed the BRS’s “hype-driven” tenure.

“Yours was hype; ours builds real hope,” the minister said, addressing Rao. “You did little but boasted much — we deliver without empty promises or ‘castles in the air’,”

Highlighting the success of the Telangana Rising summit, he noted that the state secured ₹5.75 lakh crore worth of MoUs. “If these are lies, why did company leaders flock to the summit? Your era needed family ‘gate passes’ for investments; we’ve ended that nepotism,” Sridhar Babu said.

He said that that while the BRS government too had signed MoUs, few materialised. “We’ve grounded ₹3.4 lakh crore in two years alone,” he said, crediting the foundation laid by Congress governments in IT, aerospace, defence, and life sciences for Telangana’s top rankings. IT exports, he added, rose from ₹2.43 lakh crore (BRS peak) to ₹3.23 lakh crore in just 18 months.

Citing RBI data, Sridhar Babu said Telangana now ranks No.1 among major states in per capita GSDP at ₹3.87 lakh, ahead of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. He showcased projects like Bharat Future City and the Warangal PM Mitra Textile Park (₹3,862 crore investment, 24,400 jobs, ₹30 crore Centre aid) as examples of genuine progress, not “real estate scams.”

He further alleged officers were reduced to “showpieces” under BRS, but now drive development freely. Vowing to make Telangana the world’s top industrial state, Sridhar Babu urged Rao to “check facts before criticising,” and insisted that the people’s government prioritises progress over curtains.
