Sridhar Babu Announces MSME Subsidies for Food Processing

KHAMMAM: Minister for IT and industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Thursday said that entrepreneurs would be encouraged by the state government for setting up of food processing units to improve income of the farmers.
Along with minister for agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao, he inaugurated TGIIC Mega Food Park at Buggapadu of Satupally mandal in the district.
Speaking at a meeting, Sridhar Babu said that value additions to the crops by processing them would increase income of farmers by increasing demand for their produce. Food processing industries would be invited to set up units in Mega Food Park at Buggapadu.
He said that it was targeted to ensure setting up of 10,000 units of ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). He said that subsidies would be extended to entrepreneurs, who would set up industries in the state.
Industries would provide direct and indirect employment to youths. The state government would also extend training to women of SHGs, if they come forward to MSMEs, he added. As per new MSME policy of the state, special women industrial parks would be set up in all Assembly constituencies, he said.
He reminded that then Chief Minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy had allocated land for Mega Food Park at Buggapadu in 2008. The BRS government did not take up any measure for execution of woks of the mega food park, he said.
He said it was the Congress government, which extended share to the workers of Singareni Collieries in the profit. He promised to bring the demand of people to set up thermal power plant in Sathupally mandal, he added.
Nageswara Rao said that the mega food park would help in increasing horticultural farmers in the district. The state government would ensure Minimum Support Price to guava, coconut, oil farm and other horticultural farms. He requested the officials of TGIIC to focus on bringing food processing units in the mega food park.
Mega Food Park was developed by the TGIIC with cold storage and warehouse facilities on 60 acres with Rs 109.59 crore at Buggapadu. The location of the mega food park was strategically selected in terms of agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and Poultry crops availability within 150 km of radius.
The potential units that may come up within the park are fruits and vegetable processing, beverage units, chilli processing and oleoresin extraction, consumer food products like bakery, confectionery items, maize processing, pulses processing, edible oil extraction, milk and milk based products, dietary supplements and food additives and ready to cook products.
