Spurious Liquor Racket with AP Links Busted in Suryapet, 6 Held

 Hyderabad: After adulterated toddy, Telangana Prohibition and Excise department busted spurious liquor racket with the arrest of six persons in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The racket is operated in a rice mill in Huzurabad in the district.

Following reliable information, a State Task Force (STF) team carried out a raid at Shruthi rice mill at Ramapuram village in Mellachervu Mandal in Huzurnagar where spurious liquor is manufactured and seized 24 plastic cans each containing 35 litres of rectified spirit totaling 840 litres, 38 cartons of McDowel whisky of each 48 bottles of 280 ml totaling 328 litres, plastic cans contained flavours and essence, 11,800 McDowel whisky empty bottles.

Around 7,814 McDowel whisky brand labels, half a dozen steel vessels of 200 litres capacity, 12 caramel bottles, old admiral brandy aluminum caps weighing 56.3 kgs, McDowell whisky caps weighing 42.8 kgs and a car were also seized.

The team arrested S. Mahesh Kumar of Durgi village of Palnadu district in Andhra Pradesh and Prakash of Ramapuram Village at Mellachervu Mandal in Suryapet district.

District Excise Prohibition and Excise Officer R Lakshma Naik on Monday said that the excise department of Andhra Pradesh registered cases of spurious liquor at Amalapuram, Repalle, Markapuram etc., in June and seized huge quantity of spurious liquor along with the ingredients used for manufacturing of adulterated liquor.

The suppliers were Mallikarjunarao of Krishna Pharma and Charanjeet Singh Seti, both from Uppal, and R. Srinivas of Vanastalipuram, Naik said.

The special teams of AP apprehended the three suppliers. During the course of investigation, it came to know that one racket was operated from Kodad in Suryapet. As per the instructions of the Director of Prohibition and Excise, the STF team kept a vigil over the activity nearby Kodad and conducted raids at Ramapuram and seized the material apart from arresting two persons.

The team found four persons including Thota Shiva Shankar, the license holder, who manages Shiva parvathi wine at Mellachervu, was the local organizer of the racket. Shankar along with three suppliers Mallikarjunarao, Charanjeet Singh and R. Srinivas were arrested, Naik added.
