Hyderabad: A special team has been formed at Central Crime Station (CCS) to probe allegations of corruption and financial irregularities levelled against the office bearers of the Hyderabad Golf Association (HGA).

The probe was instituted after Srinath Reddy Kottam, a long-standing member of HGA, filed a detailed complaint with the Golconda police on April 16, accusing the HGA office bearers, including the president, secretary, captain, and committee members of indulging in corruption from 2016 onwards.

The allegations include manipulated membership allotments, financial fraud in high-value contracts, and serious violations of GST regulations.

"A particularly concerning incident involves a Rs 1.75 crore contract awarded without proper procedure, where Rs 50 lakh was paid in advance to a non-existent vendor using a false business address," Srinath Reddy alleged.

The complaint also highlights a structural failure at a newly-developed driving range, where 16 poles collapsed due to substandard engineering, causing damages exceeding Rs 1.3 crore and potentially endangering lives.

Other serious allegations include rigged tender processes for golf course development, overpricing of contracts amounting to `2.58 crore, deliberate destruction of crucial documentation, and implementation of illegal bye-laws without proper registration with the district registrar.

The case, initially registered at the Golconda police station. However, it was transferred to the CCS for a thorough investigation by Additional CP (crime) P Vishwa Prasad.

The case was re-registered at the CCS on April 25 under Sections 316(5), 318(4), 336(3), 340(2), 61(2), 238, 241, r/w 3(5) of the BNS against the HGA president and other committee members.

"The case was registered based on the allegations of the complainant, who is a former committee member of HGA. We are in the process of collecting evidence and verifying the allegations," CCS ACP Y Harish Kumar said.
