HYDERABAD: The Telangana government will observe ‘Telangana Social Justice Day’ on February 4, commemorating the first anniversary of the Legislative Assembly’s passage of resolutions approving the caste census and SC sub-classification reports.

As per earlier orders, the day honours the government’s commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusive development through annual official ceremonies, awareness programmes, lectures and cultural events.

The Congress-led administration had pledged a caste census and SC sub-categorisation during the 2023 Assembly elections. It conducted the caste census in November-December 2024 and appointed a one-man judicial commission that month for the SC sub-classification report.

The government received the caste census report on February 2, 2025, and the SC sub-categorisation report on February 3, 2025.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy convened a special Assembly session on February 4, tabled the resolutions and secured approval for them.
