Six Illegal Sheds Built on Waqf Land at Parigi
A member of the waqf board, Abul Fateh Syed Bandagi Badesha Quadri, said, district waqf inspectors must take the responsibility of waqf lands and ensure their protection from encroachments.
Hyderabad: Encroachments on Waqf properties in several areas across the state are going on unabated. Recently, sheds were allegedly erected at Lal Shah Wali graveyard, a waqf property in Parigi, Vikarabad district.
Six sheds have already been constructed at the graveyard without obtaining permission from the Telangana State Waqf Board. Now, locals fear that more shops may be constructed, posing a potential existential threat to the graveyard.
The locals, who objected to the establishment of shops inside the graveyard, put up a complaint with the Waqf Board to take action against the self-styled business management.
The Pargi graveyard is not a lone case, a society claimed an old graveyard as Waqf propery in Narsingi. Raising objections, local Muslims approached the waqf board and revenue department, which recently conducted a joint survey, said Md Habeebuddin, a waqf activist.
Similarly, constructions were carried out at a graveyard spread across nine acres and 24 gunta of land in Pupalaguda, a land notified in Waqf gazette, for the past four years, he said.
“The Waqf Board should ask district collectors to stop all illegal constructions on notified graveyards. After a joint survey, an action must be initiated against the land grabbers and cancel the registration related to encroachments on the graveyard lands,” the Waqf activist, added.
A member of the waqf board, Abul Fateh Syed Bandagi Badesha Quadri, said, district waqf inspectors must take the responsibility of waqf lands and ensure their protection from encroachments. “If not, the inspectors can seek assistance from the head office,” he said. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, waqf board chairman Azmatullah Husseini said teams have already been deputed to resolve the issue at the Pargi. “The joint survey details of Narsingi Waqf property are awaited,” he added.
