Hyderabad: Hyderabad reverberated with devotional chants, bhajans, and keertans celebrating Hanuman Jayanti, marked by elaborate temple rituals and a grand Shobha Yatra that drew thousands of devotees.
The festivities began early with temples and pandals hosting idols of Lord Hanuman. Devotees enthusiastically performed special pujas and distributed annaprasadam at multiple venues.
The highlight was the vibrant Shobha Yatra originating from the Karmanghat Hanuman Temple and Sri Ram Mandir, Gowliguda that concluded at the Tadbund temple. Thousands participated in the bike rally, waving flags depicting Lord Hanuman carrying the Sanjeevani mountain.
Additionally, 158 yatras from within the city and 48 from neighbouring Rachakonda and Cyberabad commissionerates merged into the main procession.
Despite the intense summer heat, young devotees maintained high spirits, enjoying the procession, supported by philanthropists who arranged cool drinks, sharbat, juices, water, and snacks along the route.
Ram Vilas Vedanti, addressing participants during the Yatra, said, "The whole world is chanting Jai Shri Ram. Today, the Hindu way of life resonates not just in India but globally."
At the Hare Krishna Golden Temple, devotees gathered in large numbers to witness special rituals like Panchamrita Abhishekam, Special Arati, and Vishesha Alankar performed on Sri Chatur Bhuja Japa Anjaneya Swamy.
Extensive security measures were enforced by Hyderabad police to ensure peaceful celebrations. City police commissioner C.V. Anand personally oversaw security arrangements, coordinating closely with senior officials and event organisers. Around 1,700 police personnel from different wings, were deployed. "We established a joint command center at ICCC Banjara Hills, where departments including GHMC, R&B, Fire Services, Electricity, EMRI, TSRTC, HMWS&SB, transport, and health and Medical closely monitored the procession," Anand stated.
The Shobha Yatra procession smoothly traversed major city junctions, from Gowliguda to Tadbund Hanuman Temple in Secunderabad, concluding peacefully amid tight security.
