SHE Teams Nab 13 for Harassment

Hyderabad:Following continuous field surveillance, decoy operations and technical monitoring, Hyderabad SHE Teams caught 13 offenders last month.
Among them, 11 were majors and two minors. Seven offenders were warned and let off after counselling in the presence of their families. Nine petty cases were booked for serious misconduct, leading to three convictions with seven days’ jail and fines. One conviction resulted in four days’ jail and fine, another in two days’ jail, while three convictions ended with fines only.
Those caught included a bike‑ride platform driver, a 45‑year‑old man and an Instagram acquaintance, all accused of harassing women, mostly girl students.
Under the supervision of Women Safety Wing deputy commissioner of police Dr. Lavanya NJP, SHE Teams continue their efforts to ensure the safety and dignity of women and girls across the city. Complaints were actively taken up in January through WhatsApp, direct petitions and social media platforms.
In December 2025, 98 petitions were received. Of these, 29 were referred to police stations, resulting in 14 FIRs, while 15 remain pending for further legal action.
Beyond enforcement, SHE Teams focused on awareness and preventive education. During the month, they conducted 188 awareness programmes in schools, colleges and public places, along with 1,045 observation drives in crowded and sensitive areas.
