Shankarpally Police Arrest Ganja Peddler, Send Five Drug Consumers To Rehabilitation
600 grams of Ganja seized; five consumers sent to De-Addiction Centres after medical and legal procedure
Future City/Shankarpally: Shankarpally Police of the Future City Police Commissionerate have intensified action against drug sale, supply and consumption as part of the Telangana Government’s “Nasha Mukt Telangana” initiative.
In two recent cases, police apprehended six persons. Shaik Ariful, aged 24, from West Bengal, was allegedly caught with 600 grams of Ganja and was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
The remaining five were identified as drug consumers. After medical examination, necessary certification, their willingness and Court orders, they were sent to De-Addiction Centres for counselling, treatment and rehabilitation.
Shankarpally SHO G. Rudvir Kumar said close watch is being maintained on drug-related activities and action will continue against peddlers and suppliers.
Anti-drug efforts across the Commissionerate have been strengthened under the initiative of Dr. Tarun Joshi, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Future City, who recently conducted training and awareness programmes for police personnel on drug prevention and coordinated action with EAGLE, Narcotics and other specialised teams.
Future City Police appealed to the public to share information regarding illegal drug activities and assured that informants’ identities would be kept confidential.
