Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here on Monday arrested Shamirpet Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) M. Parashuram for accepting a bribe of Rs.22,000 as a bribe from a complainant for doing an official favour.

Parashuram demanded and accepted a bribe to exclude the complainant and his worker from the cheating case registered by the Shamirpet police and to return the complainant's cell phone. The SI had already accepted Rs.2 lakh as bribe from the complainant, the ACB officials said.

They added that the SI performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly and the bribe amount was recovered from him at his instance. The officials produced the SI before the special court for ACB cases after which the court remanded him to judicial custody.

Earlier, the ACB officials conducted raids at the police station and examined files. They specially focused on the cases being probed by Parashuram and collected details from his colleagues in the police station before he was arrested.
