Hyderabad: Nine women, including two foreign nationals, were rescued from a prostitution racket operating in Madhapur on Wednesday. Cyberabad police also arrested nine persons, including three organisers, in connection with the case.

Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) arrested Hamer Singh alias Amid Singh (organiser), Thammi Srinivas (supervisor), Pokala Venkateshwarlu, Bekmetova Gulshat, Rakhmanova Malika alias Lovina Bora, Lakshman Tumu, Akash Bajaj, Gora Mohammed Wasim and K. Parthiban.

Police said the accused were running the racket from a five-star hotel in Parvath Nagar, Madhapur. Women were allegedly brought from various states, advertised on different websites, contacted customers through calls and WhatsApp and then sent to hotels.

Seven of the victims are from five Indian states — West Bengal (2), Delhi (2), Jharkhand (1), Haryana (1) and Punjab (1) — while the remaining two are from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. All have been shifted to a rescue home in the city.

Madhapur police registered a case under Sections 143 and 144 of the BNS, Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the ITPA, and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946.

Cyberabad police cautioned women against falling prey to job offers or quick-money schemes that can lead to trafficking. They advised hotel managements to verify guests’ IDs and property owners to check tenant credentials before renting premises, warning that properties used for illegal activities are liable to seizure. Suspected activities can be reported to local police, Dial 100 or WhatsApp on 9490617444.
