Hyderabad: GHMC commissioner Ilambarathi and HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath inspected a newly introduced robotic machine, the “Sewer Croc,” designed to clear sewage lines without human entry. The robot, powered by high-pressure water jets, was demonstrated on Wednesday in the drainage lines near the Secretariat. The commissioners observed its functioning as it navigated pipelines, using rotating blades to remove silt and solid waste.

The commissioners noted that the technology could play a crucial role in preventing waterlogging during the monsoon by tackling sewage overflow. The machine also enhances worker safety by eliminating the need for manual entry into manholes. They stated that flood-prone localities would be identified for a pilot project deploying the robot.
