Man held for threatening ex-partner
HYDERABAD: Police on Wednesday arrested one Vinay for allegedly stalking and threatening a 19-year-old daily wage worker with a knife at a supermarket in Gajularamaram, Jeedimetla. According to police, the woman had earlier been in a relationship with Vinay but had ended it. Despite this, Vinay allegedly continued to pressure her to maintain contact.
In her complaint, she stated that Vinay had previously coaxed her into leaving with him, leading to a police case. The matter had been resolved through an agreement signed by both parties in the presence of police officials.
On Wednesday, Vinay arrived at her workplace and attempted to speak to her. During the encounter, he threatened her with a knife. The woman immediately contacted her family, who rushed to the scene. By the time they arrived, Vinay had fled.
Police said Vinay attempted to blackmail the woman by threatening suicide. Fearing for her safety, her family restrained him and took him to the Jeedimetla police station. A case was registered against Vinay for stalking and criminal intimidation. Further investigation was underway.
Bank staffer dies after hand loan default
Hyderabad: A 28-year-old woman working in the credit card division of a bank in Rasoolpura succumbed to her attempt to die by suicide after allegedly being driven to emotional distress by a man who borrowed `10 lakh from her and failed to return it. LB Nagar police registered a case on July 21 based on a complaint filed by a relative of the deceased.
The woman, a native of Vijayawada, was staying in Hyderabad with her cousin brother. She had reportedly met the man in the city and lent him the amount under a formal agreement.
After repeated reminders, the man allegedly stopped responding to her calls and refused to repay the amount. Distressed by the prolonged silence, she reportedly attempted suicide, got on to a bus to Vijayawada and informed her friend. The friend alerted her father, who then contacted her brother. By the time they located her, the bus had reached Mangalagiri.
Police tracked her down and rushed her to a nearby hospital. She was later shifted to two other hospitals due to her critical condition, but succumbed on July 21. As her father was unable to file a complaint, her uncle submitted the complaint. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Further details are awaited.
