Serial Burglar Named In 30 Cases Held In Balanagar

The police analyzed footage from over 160 CCTVs and traced the accused

Hyderabad: The Jeedimetla police nabbed a person for allegedly committing a series of house burglaries in twin cities.

Twenty-six-year-old Begari Venu Kumar, an auto rickshaw driver and resident of Suraram in Quthbullapur and native of Vikarabad district, was caught after thoroughly examining CCTV footage and technical tracking of the arrested person based on suspects database, said Balanagar Deputy Commissioner of Police, K Suresh Kumar.

Following a complaint from Ratan Chandra Mandal, a resident of Jeedimetla on March 6, 2025 that on the intervening night of March 5 and 6, unknown offenders gained entry into the house of his brother-in-law Pintu by breaking open the side window near the main door and stole gold and silver ornaments all worth Rs.10 lakh and escaped with the booty.

The police booked a case and analyzed footage from over 160 CCTVs along possible escape routes covering the Pintu’s house. By matching the modus operandi (MO) with the known offenders and verifying suspects data, the team identified and apprehended Venu Kumar.

Gold and silver ornaments, all worth over Rs.11.5lakh and a bike were seized from the possession of the arrested person.

The accused along with his associates previously involved in more than 30 burglaries committed in various police stations of Cyberabad and sent him to jail several times. He was also involved in a POCSO Act case and a NDPS Act case.

Earlier, he was detained under Preventive Detention (PD) Act by Cyberabad police and sent to jail for one year.
