Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered 1620 stolen or lost mobile phones. Of them, the police distributed about 120 mobiles of railway passengers’ worth Rs.16 lakh.

Following instructions of IG Railways and Road safety K. Ramesh Naidu, special teams have been formed under the supervision of Secunderabad SP Y. Sai Sekhar to trace stolen or lost mobile phones.

Accordingly, the police recovered 1620 mobile phones from Telangana, Kerala, Uttarpradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya pradesh, Bihar, Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh. These mobile phones are either stolen during the journey from passengers, who were sitting on the foot board or window side where they have misplaced phones or some unidentified offenders either snatched or stolen it.

The police urged the passengers to be careful about their belongings and if any mobile phone theft occurred in railway stations then block your mobile phones with IMEI numbers in CEIR portal immediately by log in at www.ceir.gov.in.

Passengers who lost mobiles should immediately contact the nearest police station in order to block IMEI using CEIR portal and further track the phone, unblock and hand over to rightful owners.
