SCR to Conduct Civil Defence Drill at Kacheguda
Activation of air raid warning sirens, enforcement of crash blackout measures, evacuation plan rehearsals, readiness testing of civil defence services, including firefighting, basic life support (BLS) and rescue operations form part of the drill.
Hyderabad: South Central Railways said that it would hold a comprehensive civil defence drill at the Kacheguda station in Hyderabad division and a few other stations in its zone, on Wednesday.
The drill would be organised under the supervision of SCR deputy general manager Udaynath Kotla, who is also controller of civil defence, along with team of civil defence volunteers, instructors and personnel who would simulate a hostile attack scenario to evaluate emergency preparedness and inter-agency coordination.

In a statement, SCR said all departments concerned would take part in the exercise and ensure the smooth execution of the drill at their respective locations. Additionally, blackout measures will be enforced in railway stations during the drill period, including switching off of non-essential lighting and covering of windows, in line with civil defence guidelines. This exercise aims to strengthen the overall emergency response framework and readiness of railway personnel and infrastructure in the event of a wartime emergency, SCR said.
