Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has assured Telangana that it is supplying sufficient coal to all thermal power stations and will prioritise state power needs as electricity demand rises following deficit rainfall under current El Niño conditions.

At a coordination meeting held via video conference at Singareni Bhavan, SCCL CMD Dr Buddha Prakash Jyoti directed officials to step up coal movement to ensure uninterrupted power generation. He said special officers would be appointed to monitor continuous coal transport and asked for prioritisation of deliveries to state thermal plants.

GENCO CMD Dr Harish, who co‑chaired the meeting, reviewed present demand, coal production and transport issues. SCCL marketing officials reported that the company currently supplies 72 per cent of the coal consumed by GENCO thermal stations, including Ramagundam NTPC and Singareni plants.

Dr Jyoti urged closer coordination between SCCL and GENCO to maintain adequate stocks and reallocate coal earmarked for other states if necessary. He stressed that production levels must be maintained, coal quality preserved, and preventive measures taken to avoid monsoon disruptions.

Dr Harish detailed coal stock positions at GENCO stations and asked senior officials to intervene promptly to resolve transport bottlenecks.

SCCL directors E.L.V. Suryanarayana, K. Venkateswara, M. Tirumala Rao, ED (Coal Movement) B. Venkanna, GM (Co‑ordination & Marketing) T. Srinivas, and GENCO directors Nagya, Rajasekhar and CEOs Bichchanna, Lakshmayya and Sriprakash participated in the meeting.
