NALGONDA: Congress leader Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy on Friday dismissed rumours that he was unwilling to contest the Warangal–Khammam–Nalgonda graduates MLC election, asserting that he would enter the fray as the party’s candidate.
In a post on his Facebook page, Reddy, son of late Congress leader Ramreddy Damodar Reddy, alleged that vested interests were deliberately spreading false information about his candidature. He said he had never spoken of withdrawing from the election and would abide by the decision of the Congress high command.
“I will accept the responsibility entrusted to me by the party and bring the issues faced by graduates, youth, employees, the unemployed and students to the attention of the state government after winning the elections,” he said.
He added that his earlier remarks on long-term political goals were being misinterpreted to create confusion among his followers. He rejected speculation that allocation of two seats to the Reddy community had angered BCs and that the party was planning to replace its candidate.
Reddy assured graduates during his campaign that he would raise their concerns both inside and outside the Legislative Council.
