Samanvay to Boost Police Coordination: Bandi
Bandi Sanjay stressed the need to combine technological advancements with widespread grassroots awareness campaigns, especially in local languages, to strengthen cybercrime prevention at the community level.
Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar called for a balanced focus on cutting-edge technology, dedicated personnel and citizen-centric outreach to build a robust cybercrime prevention framework across India. Chairing a review meeting on the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre’s (I4C) initiatives — the Samanvay Platform and the Cyber Commando Programme — in New Delhi, Sanjay emphasised that citizens must remain central to all efforts.
He stressed the need to combine technological advancements with widespread grassroots awareness campaigns, especially in local languages, to strengthen cybercrime prevention at the community level.
The minister said the Samanvay platform connects State Police agencies nationwide, enhancing law enforcement coordination. Key features include the Pratibimb module, which provides real-time access to suspect location and financial-telecom data, enabling swift actions like SIM card and device blocking.
Its interstate assistance and banking modules speed up collaboration and evidence collection, while the Techno-Legal Support service offers vital expert guidance.
On the Cyber Commando Programme, envisioned by the Prime Minister, the minister acknowledged its role in building a specialist cadre trained in defending IT infrastructure, managing cyber incidents and performing advanced digital forensics. The deployment of the first batch of 407 trained Cyber Commandos nationwide marks a key milestone, with plans to expand training, develop an operational manual, and launch online coordination platforms.
He urged integrating these advanced tools with grassroots awareness efforts in local languages to maximize preventive impact. This approach aims to engage frontline functionaries closely so that the benefits of advanced coordination and response tools effectively reach every corner of the country.
