Hyderabad: City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar congratulated the police for their dedicated effort against drunk driving on New Year's Eve, which he said ensured a peaceful transition into 2026. "I appreciate the dedication of every officer — from the Home Guards to the additional commissioners of police. It is this spirit of teamwork that makes Hyderabad a safer and truly global city,"

4 DJs Among 5 Consumers Held in Raids

Hyderabad: The EAGLE Force, in coordination with the prohibition and excise department and local police, raided several pubs and resorts till the early hours of Thursday. Five persons, including four disc jockeys (DJs) tested positive for drug consumption and were detained.

EAGLE Force director Sandeep Shandilya said police used advanced technology for on-spot detection of drugs. "We subjected 51 suspects to drug screening using urine and saliva testing kits," he said.

Enforcement teams conducted vehicle checks across key junctions, testing 38 individuals. One commuter was found positive for drug consumption.
