Hyderabad: As part of National Road Safety Month–2026, a programme titled “Arrive Alive – A Campaign for Safer Roads in Telangana” was conducted at Mathru Shree College, Santoshnagar, under Chandrayangutta Traffic Zone on Monday.

The initiative aimed to create awareness among students and the public about traffic rules and safe driving practices.

Speakers stressed that road safety is everyone’s responsibility and warned that even minor negligence can lead to serious accidents. Students were advised to wear helmets, use seat belts, avoid speeding, and not use mobile phones while driving.

The dangers of drunken driving were explained, followed by an interactive session on traffic signals, road signs, and pedestrian safety, said D Joel Davis, joint commissioner, City Traffic Police.

Davis highlighted the Good Samaritan Law, which offers legal protection to individuals assisting accident victims. He said the campaign encourages everyone to follow traffic rules and ensure safe travel, with the ultimate goal of reducing accidents across the state.

A road safety oath was administered to commuters to promote responsible driving.

To ensure smooth conduct of the programme, potholes were filled, and traffic managed. Reserve Inspector I.V. Ramanaiah, Traffic sub‑inspectors, and Law & Order police personnel were seen clearing roads to ease flow.

The event reinforced the police department’s commitment to awareness, enforcement, and safer roads in the twin cities.
