Revanth Urges Centre to Sanction IIM for Hyderabad
CM tells Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan that land and infrastructure are ready; seeks more central schools for Telangana
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan to sanction an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for Hyderabad and also set up Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in identified areas in the state.
During his meeting at the Union minister’s chamber in Parliament, Revanth Reddy briefed Pradhan about Hyderabad’s rapid growth in technology, life sciences, aerospace, defence, logistics, and advanced manufacturing sectors and underlined the urgent need of the establishment of an IIM in the historical city.
He informed Pradhan that 200 acres of land required for the establishment of the IIM has already been identified at the University of Hyderabad campus. A facility of transit campus is also ready to immediately commence IIM classes, the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister said the establishment of an IIM in Hyderabad would improve opportunities for the students of poor and middle-class families in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy also appealed to the Centre to sanction nine KVs and 16 JNVs in line with the increased number of districts, to provide quality education to students in rural areas and the increasing urban areas. The state government is ready to provide necessary land and other facilities.
He requested Pradhan to establish KVs in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Kamareddy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Narayanpet, Nagarkurnool, Suryapet, Vikarabad, and Nirmal districts.
He requested JNVs in Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jogulamba Gadwal, Mahabubabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Medak, Mulugu, Narayanpet, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nirmal, and Adilabad districts.
Telangana MPs Mallu Ravi, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, M Anil Kumar Yadav, and the state government's special representative in Delhi, A.P. Jitender Reddy were present.
