Revanth To Return to Midjil for Thanksgiving
The Chief Minister is expected to tell the gathering that the blessings and support of Midjil's people enabled him to rise to the state's highest office and serve Telangana. Referring to himself as the “son of Midjil,” he will seek their continued blessings.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will return to Midjil in Mahbubnagar district on July 4 to hold a thanksgiving meeting marking 20 years of his journey as a public representative, expressing gratitude to the people who gave him his first electoral mandate and laid the foundation for his political career.
The event marks two decades since Revanth Reddy's maiden electoral victory as a Midjil ZPTC member in the 2006 local body elections, a win that paved the way for his rise as an MLC, Kodangal MLA, Malkajgiri MP and, eventually, Chief Minister of Telangana.
According to his associates, Revanth Reddy has long wanted to repay the debt he owes to Midjil, which he considers his political birthplace. They said he often recalls the village that shaped his early political career, the temple where he offered prayers, the school where he studied, and the people who elected him for the first time. Rather than treating the occasion as a political programme, he has chosen to dedicate it as a thanksgiving event to the people who stood by him from the beginning.
The Chief Minister is expected to tell the gathering that the blessings and support of Midjil's people enabled him to rise to the state's highest office and serve Telangana. Referring to himself as the “son of Midjil,” he will seek their continued blessings.
During the visit, Revanth Reddy will offer special prayers at the Urkonda Anjaneya Swamy Temple and lay the foundation stone for its development works. He will also participate in a luncheon with his early political associates, supporters, senior leaders and village elders who played a key role in his formative years. Later, he will unveil the statues of veteran local leader Gopal Reddy and Dr B.R. Ambedkar near Midjil before addressing a public meeting.
Revanth Reddy began his political career as an Independent candidate, winning the Midjil ZPTC election in 2006 and the Mahbubnagar Local Authorities' MLC election in 2007. He later joined the Telugu Desam, winning the Kodangal Assembly seat in 2009 and 2014, before moving to the Congress. He was elected Malkajgiri MP in 2019, later became TPCC president, led the Congress to victory in the 2023 Assembly elections and assumed office as Telangana Chief Minister on December 7, 2023.
