Japanese conglomerate Marubeni Corporation to invest Rs.1,000 crore to set up a next-generation industrial park in Future City
Hyderabad: A delegation led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has clinched a deal from Marubeni Corporation, which came forward to invest Rs.1,000 crore for setting up next-generation industrial park in Future City, on the first day of his visit to Japan.
Marubeni Corp. would develop a world-class industrial park in 600 acres in a phased manner, dedicated for Japanese companies and other multinationals to set up manufacturing plants. It is expected to attract over Rs.5,000 crore.
Marubeni and the state government signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) and decided to pitch the park to manufacturing companies globally. The proposed park will focus on attracting manufacturers in electronics, green pharma, precision engineering, aerospace and defence sectors, which align with Telangana’s objective of attracting foreign investments in advanced manufacturing and creating skilled employment opportunities.
Welcoming Marubeni to Future City, Revanth Reddy said, "The Marubeni industrial park will be among the first of its kind to be developed in the proposed Future City. It is expected to create 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, enriching livelihoods and enhancing the skill ecosystem in Telangana.”
With most manufacturing companies slated to opt for the China+1 model, where they would have a production centre outside China, Revanth Reddy is pitching Telangana as an alternative site.
Promising personal support to Marubeni in ensuring that it enjoys a world-class experience in doing business in Telangana, the Chief Minister said, “We are delighted to have Marubeni as a marquee investor for the Future City, India’s first city being designed to be a net zero city. We welcome Marubeni to Hyderabad, and given the friendship of India and Japan for centuries, I am sure you will find yourself at home when you come to Telangana.”
Welcoming Revanth Reddy and the Rising Telangana delegation to Japan, Dai Sakakura, executive officer and COO, Next Generation Business, Marubeni, said, “We are delighted after listening to CM Revanth Reddy’s vision for Telangana and Hyderabad, and wish to be amongst the earliest to explore possibilities there.”
Marubeni operates globally in 65 countries through over 410 group companies and is a leader in lifestyle, food and agriculture business, metals and mines, energy and chemicals, power and infra, finance leasing and real estate, aerospace and mobility, among others. It employs over 50,000 employees globally.
The Telangana Rising delegation also visited the headquarters of Sony Corporation in Japan. Officers of the Sony Corporation showcased several new initiatives at Sony, and detailed their workings, including new products, to the delegation. The delegation held detailed discussions on the animation subsidiary of the company, Crunchyroll.
The delegation explained the strengths of Hyderabad in the animation, VfX and Gaming sectors. Revanth Reddy outlined his vision on the setting up of a modern film city, which would have the capability of end-to-end production.
